The focus reading is from the Good News According to Luke 15:1-3 and 11b-32. Here, Jesus is criticized by the local religious authorities for eating and drinking with supposedly undesirably people. In response, Jesus tells what is often referred to as the “Parable of the Prodigal Son”. If you can, read the passage before the service.  Today is the Fourth Sunday in the season of Lent, sometimes referred to in Latin as “Laetere Sunday” meaning “Rejoice.” It represents a respite from the penitence of the Lenton season that marks Jesus’ journey to the cross and spiritual preparation for Easter.
