The Joy of Preaching

I'm grateful that I was able to be in Vancouver at Christ Church Cathedral this past Saturday to hear Will Willimon give a talk/workshop on "the Joy of Preaching" related to his latest book How Odd of God: Chosen for the Curious Vocation of Preaching.

It was very encouraging, which may seem odd as Will is often very critical of "our" tribe of mainline churches, which he skewers quite effectively with his cutting humour. Nonetheless, I found it encouraging because for Will preaching always comes back to a God whose grace is more than we could possibly imagine, is relentless in seeking us, and is always enlisting the wrong people to do God's work.

Truly blessed to be able to do what I do week after week. Preaching is indeed a joy.
