Rev. Glenn Jackson

It is with a heavy heart that I report that our dear friend Glenn Jackson died in his home late yesterday morning. As many of you know, Glenn was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer only four weeks ago. It was a steeper decline than he’d even expected, but Glenn was able to die comfortably in his home with his wife Barbara and brother at his side.

For those of you who don’t know, Glenn was a retired United Church minister. He graduated from United Theological College in Montreal at McGill University in 1964 and was ordained in Montreal and Ottawa conference. He served in a variety of ministries in Quebec, Ontario and B.C., where he retired as Minister of First United Church in Ladysmith in 2010. After Glenn retired, he found his way to St. George's, where he continued to offer his gifts, having led several adult studies within the congregation and always lifted up a beautiful singing voice during worship in praise of God. It has been an honor to serve as his pastor for this past year, and I'll especially miss Glenn's wit and wisdom, and his passion for adult spiritual formation.

There is not a Memorial Service planned for Glenn as of yet. However, we may announce something in the weeks ahead, and will notify everyone if and when plans come in to place. Your continuing thoughts and prayers for Glenn's wife, Barbara, are appreciated.

Grace & Peace,
Rev. Ryan Slifka
